Registration is closed

This is a casual unscored, yet very large meet for newcomers, general enthusiasts, the experienced, and anyone in between! No team affiliation or USATF membership are required. However, please REGISTER here on this page to serve as an RSVP if you are interested in participating.

Our heat starts at 2:45pm (The rest of the heats are high school only)

Logistics:

1.) Arrive at the parking lot north of Cedarcrest Golf Course at 1:30pm

2.) Enter the golf course at the north entrance (bring all your stuff including $7 cash per person entering (even if just spectating)

3. Register and pick up a bib at the timing truck near the northwest corner of golf course (near finish arches). There is no additional cost to register for the race.

4. Find our tent! LSRC will set up at an area on the hillside with a view of the finish line (NW corner of the golf course). The start line is on the top of the hill in the middle of the course. We will do a warmup at 2:00pm. The bathroom lines can get quite long so it is recommended to allow enough time for that too.

5. We will make our way to the start at 2:35pm

What to expect: Twilight is a large XC event where many high schools from all across Western Washington compete. The first heat at 2:45pm is an open race for family members, coaches, fans, as well as other high school students who may not be racing in seeded heats later in the afternoon. Expect a mass start with about 200 people spanning across a wide start line on the turf. Everyone will try to sprint hard at the beginning and runners will funnel into a narrower pack after the first 200 meters. The bulk of the runners will be in the 20-30 minute range for the 5k, so if you are faster than that, it will be wise try and get a good position at the beginning. Once you get going, there will be soft rollers for an overall downhill the first mile. At mile 1.5, there is a short uphill and downhill, followed by a long gradual climb. Mile 3 has a fast downhill and a flat finish. Although cross country spikes will be ideal, trail shoes with decent tread will work just fine.
